Project Description:  

BGCLC will be renovating the Genesee Site, a youth development and community center operated by BGCLC. Work requires compliance with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS/.01 et seq. The contractor shall meet the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) goals for the Project set by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). This Project has a BEP utilization goal of 25% with 20% of the grant dollars going to minority-owned business enterprises (MBEs) and 5% of the grant dollars going to Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs). The individual MBE/WBE utilization goals are based on the availability of certified vendors to perform the anticipated direct subcontracting opportunities of the Utilization Plan (UP). Only contractors/suppliers certified through CMS' Business Enterprise Program will count toward meeting the utilization goals for this project.  

The Site Renovation Project will be a full-renovation of the site that will include full updates of five classrooms, the community kitchen, washrooms, all common areas, and reception. It will also include a painting/finish update to the gymnasium. In the interior of the building, the renovation will include updates/replacement to floors, lighting, walls, ceiling, HVAC system, and plumbing. It will include the rehabilitation of the Boys & Girls bathrooms and the community kitchen. On the exterior, the renovation will include updates to some external wiring, improvements to the location of the facility's dumpsters, and increased thermal and moisture protections to the exterior. Estimated value is $750,000.
